Julia Manstan
Owner

I was born and raised in Labrador City, NL, surrounded by a family of Labrador entrepreneurs. I moved to Fredericton, NB, in 2011 to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management. During the summers I returned to Labrador to work and did nails as a side hobby, which is where the name Pimp My Nails began as a social media identity.

In December 2015, I finished University and decided to turn the side hobby into a career by enrolling in the Nail Technician program at Majestany Institute, graduating in April of 2016.

Upon graduation I returned to Labrador City and started doing more nails, and quickly realized this was my passion and it was time to run with it. When the opportunity came up to rent a salon space in town, the seed was planted for what would soon become our salon, Pimp My Nails Plus. After a year of renovations and planning, Pimp My Nails Plus opened in February of 2018.

I currently take on the Management/Ownership role in the salon which is definitely a full time job! Between advertising, marketing, ordering, payroll, scheduling, and the million little things that come up in the run of a day, it's busy! Unfortunately I haven't been able to do nails lately due to the development of a product allergy. I miss it so much and especially miss my amazing clients!

While the Salon takes up a lot of my time, I still like to indulge in other hobbies that include painting, spending time at the cabin, going for walks with my kids, snowmobiling in winter and fishing / quad rides in the summer, cooking, and spending time with my family. I'm very lucky to get to spend my free time with my fiance and precious boys: David, Howie, Wesley and Sprinkles.

Cherish Talbot

Cherish was born and raised in Flin Flon, MB until she moved to Nova Scotia in 1998. She lived throughout the province until her move to Labrador City, NL in 2019. Cherish joined the PMNP Family and Reception Team in August of 2021.

She is the mother of 2 energetic boys and they love to spend their family time outdoors, reading, watching movies, playing D&D, board games and many other activites.

Cherish is also the Production Director for Encore Community Arts Association where she directs Stage Productions with the youth in our community. She has directed shows like Grease and Lion King Jr. among others.

Cherish is currently our Reception Supervisor and takes great pride in her team and their impeccable guest service skills.

Justin Dalton
Barber

Justin is from Labrador City, NL. He completed his Barber Certification at Delmar in Calgary, AB in 2022. Justin started with Pimp My Nails in December 2022. Justin takes pride in giving his clients the true Barber experience, from a clipper cut to a full hot shave.

When not at work, Justin enjoys spending time with his daughter, Jada. He also enjoys cooking as well as listening to music.

Justin's favourite products are the Aveda Pure-formance Men's Line. His favourite thing about working at Pimp My Nails is that everyone loves to laugh and we support one another every day.

Rex Butt
Nail Technician

Rex Butt is originally from the coast of Newfoundland but has made Labrador City his home.

Katie Tobin
Nail Technician

Katie is originally from Labrador City and has lived here her whole life - 25 years and counting! Katie completed her nail course in 2018 with Boutique Vision D'Ancy and joined the Pimp team when we first opened. Katie started doing nails in high school just for fun and then decided to further her education and actually get certified. Katie is one of the OG Pimp team members and we are so lucky to have her and her amazing talent for nails!

Katie loves doing nail art and trying new things. She can’t draw on paper to save her life but tiny fingernails can become a work of art no problem! Hard gel extensions are her all-time favorite service. It is so satisfying seeing the transformation and seeing how good it makes the person feel having beautiful nails!

When it comes to having services done in the salon, Katie loves to indulge with a Spa Pedicure. Her fav product in the Milkshake Color Care Shampoo & Conditioner! When it comes to working at Pimp, our friendly staff, our support of each other's work, our professionalism and high standard for cleanliness is some of the things that make coming to work enjoyable!

In her spare time Katie enjoys reading a good book, relaxing on the couch with her Husband, and soaking in the tub with a glass of wine. At home, Katie has the cutest Husky named Layla, 2 wonderful children: Harrison and Emberlyn, and her loving husband, Shawn.
